The ‘Soldier’s Song’ was composed by Peadear Kearney and Patrick Heeney in the early 20th century. In 1923 Liam O’Rinn translated the lyrics into the Irish language. In 1926 Amhrán na bhFiann became the official national anthem of Ireland. It is a symbol of Irish patriotism and national identity.
