Created by Island Turf Crafts, Co. Tyrone. Island Turf Crafts was founded in 1980 by Brian McGirrs when his hobby became a business. Brian was a craft teachers and originally carved musical instruments from mahogany Brian began to carve crafts from turf, inspired by Celtic mythology his crafts are handcrafted from 5000 year-old Irish turf gathered by Henry and Doreen Quinn from the shores of Lough Neagh.
