This bronze framed art is entitled ‘Carrying the Currach’. The currach was the traditional fishing boat on the Aran Islands (off the west coast of Ireland). The currachs had to be brought down to the shore every day and the fishermen carried these boats overhead. The fishermen wore warm wool Aran jumpers. Over time each family development their own patterns, which represented prayers to keep the fishermen safe at sea.

The Carrying The Currach gift is created by Rynhart Fine Art Bronze. Who are based in beautiful Glengarriff, Co. Cork. Jeanne Rynhart formed this company in 1981 and is well known for famous public sculptures such as Molly Malone, Annie Moore and the Rose of Tralee. In 1994 Jeanne’s daughter, Audrey, teamed up with her. Audrey and her husband, Les Elliott, now run the business from their studio in Glengarriff where their passion for Irish history and Celtic design is evident from their attention to detail in Rynhart bronze art pieces.
Rynhart’s bronze art is individually handmade and is bas relief. The process is labour intensive and starts with delicate, careful modelling. When Rynhart are happy with the model a mould is made and cast. Finally, each piece is polished and finishing touches added.
This Rynhart gift is kept in stock. However, gifts purchased with a personalised option are handmade to order and dispatched directly from the supplier. Please allow up to 10 working days for dispatch of personalised gifts. Your personalised wording will replace the original wording on the mount.
