After a piece is modelled, a mould is made and production begins in bronze plate (cold cast bronze). Pieces are then hand polished and any finishing touches added. The Irish Harp, or Celtic Harp, is the official emblem of Ireland. The style of the Irish Harp is triangular in shape and based on the oldest surviving harp from the 15th century. The Brian Boru Harp or Trinity College Harp can be seen on display in Trinity College, Dublin.
A golden harp on a green flag was the flag of Ireland since the seventeenth century. The tricolour came into use following the 1916 rebellion. The Irish Free State adopted the harp as the official emblem of Ireland in 1923 and the harp is still used on official documents, Irish coinage, etc.
