The Galway Hooker is the name given to the traditional fishing boats of Galway and along the Western sea-board. The Hooker was designed to sail in both shallow waters and rough seas. To celebrate the survival of the Galway Hooker there is an annual festival of ‘Cruinnuí na mBád’ where the Hookers are sailed from Connemara to Kinvara.
