This is a beautiful and substantial bronze statue. Depicting the strong and independent Gráinne Mhaol, the Pirate Queen of Irish Folklore, who in the modern day, has become an icon of both Irish and international feminism.
Gráinne stands strong, with arms wide apart imitating full sails. With the wind in her hair, we can visualise Gráinne standing on top deck bracing the elements and ruling the waves.
