The ‘Salmon of Knowledge‘ is a well-known Irish legend about Fionn Mac Cumhaill. Irish Legend has it that the first person to taste this famous Salmon would gain the wisdom and knowledge of the world. Finnegas, Fionn’s mentor, caught the salmon and was very excited that he would be the first to taste the fish and gain the knowledge of the world. He left Fionn to finish cooking the Salmon. When a cooking blister appeared on the Salmon’s skin, Fionn burst it with his thumb and in doing so burnt his thumb. Without thinking, Fionn sucked his thumb to stop the pain. In essence this meant that Fionn was the first to taste the ‘Salmon of Knowledge‘ and he therefore become the wisest man in the world.

The Celtic Cross Framed bronze gift is created by Rynhart Fine Art Bronze. Who are based in beautiful Glengarriff, Co. Cork. Jeanne Rynhart formed this company in 1981 and is well known for famous public sculptures such as Molly Malone, Annie Moore and the Rose of Tralee. In 1994 Jeanne’s daughter, Audrey, teamed up with her. Audrey and her husband, Les Elliott, now run the business from their studio in Glengarriff where their passion for Irish history and Celtic design is evident from their attention to detail in Rynhart bronze art pieces.
Rynhart’s bronze art is individually handmade and is bas relief. The process is labour intensive and starts with delicate, careful modelling. When Rynhart are happy with the model a mould is made and cast. Finally, each piece is polished and finishing touches added.
This Rynhart gift is kept in stock. However, gifts purchased with a personalised option are handmade to order and dispatched directly from the supplier. Please allow up to 10 working days for dispatch of personalised gifts. Your personalised wording will replace the original wording on the mount.
