Perfect for

  • Irish jewellery gifts
  • St Patrick's Day gifts
  • Mother's Day gifts

This Tara Brooch is handcrafted by Kieran Cunningham in County Wicklow from alpaca silver and set with a black onyx semi-precious stone.

It is polished and lacquered to help prevent tarnishing, and its lightweight finish makes it suitable for wearing with a range of garments. Inspired by the iconic Tara Brooch, one of Ireland's best-known historic brooches, this piece makes a meaningful Irish jewellery gift for St Patrick's Day, birthdays, anniversaries, Mother's Day, naturalisation gifts, and Christmas.

Story & Significance

The Tara Brooch is one of the great treasures of early medieval Irish metalwork. Despite its name, it was found near Bettystown, County Meath, in 1850; its decoration in gilt silver, filigree, glass, enamel and amber shows the extraordinary skill of Irish makers in the 8th century.

Brooch-inspired designs carry that sense of artistry and status. They are not just pretty fastenings or motifs, but a nod to a craft tradition that turned metal, pattern and symbolism into lasting Irish art.
