This framed Bride & Groom piece is a unique Irish wedding gift handmade from authentic Irish peat turf.
The bride and groom stand on either side of a turf love heart, set in a dark brown frame with a cream mount. Personalised wording can be handwritten on the mount at no extra charge, replacing the standard wording. The peat is sourced from non-conservation-worthy bogs and the concept is supported by the Irish Peatland Conservation Council.
Story & Significance
Irish turf is dried peat from bogland, once cut by hand and stacked to dry before winter. For many families, especially in rural Ireland, turf belongs to memories of the hearth: the smell of the fire, the sound of conversation, and the work of bringing fuel home from the bog.
That gives a small framed turf carving more feeling than its size suggests. It is a keepsake of land, home and belonging, with Ireland's bogs also reminding us how peat landscapes have preserved remarkable traces of the past.
