These Celtic Eternity Knot drop earrings are handcrafted from sterling silver with 18kt yellow gold centre beads.
Inspired by the Winter Solstice and the symbolism of the returning sun, the design combines a circular silver rim, intricate Celtic knotwork and a warm gold bead at the centre. The earrings have leverback fittings for pierced ears and are hallmarked by the Assay Office in Dublin Castle. Story & Significance
Newgrange is a Neolithic passage tomb in the Bru na Boinne landscape of County Meath, dating to around 3200 BC. Its passage and chamber are famously aligned so the winter-solstice sunrise can travel through the roof-box and illuminate the interior.
The spiral patterns associated with Newgrange are older than Celtic art, which makes them especially powerful on contemporary Irish gifts. They suggest sunlight, renewal, mystery and the long memory of a landscape people were shaping more than five thousand years ago.
