The Dolmen is one of the most famous landmarks of Ireland, dating back to pre-christian times. This beautiful nativity set depicts mixed times of religious beliefs, the Dolmen symbolises the ancient culture of Ireland when the druids were the keepers of the faith until Christianity arrived through the teachings of St. Patrick, which is represented by the nativity, as with all things Irish we have a unique way our representing ourselves and our faith.

This Nativity set is made from cold cast bronze, which is bronze powder mixed with limestone.
As this Irish craft is handmade there may be visual variations with this Christmas crib, however, the same high quality of craftsmanship applies to all sets.
What is a Dolmen?
The Dolmen is also known as a portal tomb. It is a megalithic monument, which is constructed like a stone table. It is thought they were used as tomb structures and Druidic altars for ceremonies. Over 100 Dolmens can be found throughout Ireland. The are believed to date from 3,000 to 2000 BC.
