Maker profile
The Story: O'Gowna Studios has been making Irish gifts since 1989 in Naul, one of North County Dublin's most historic villages. The studio sits in a landscape full of story: below the cliff, in the shadow of the black castle, overlooking the valley, near the hermit's cave and close to the Seamus Ennis Centre.
That setting gives the work its character. O'Gowna pieces draw on Celtic culture, Irish folklore, myth, play and welcome, turning old stories into tactile gifts for homes, families and collectors. The current Totally Irish Gifts collection includes Celtic and folklore-inspired chess sets, a Fidchell-style game, Ogham wall hangings, plaques and heritage home pieces.
The Process: Each piece starts with a story. Originals are carved from materials such as wax, wood, stone or clay before a master pattern is made. Production patterns are then created, pieces are formed in the Dublin studio, and the finished work is hand-painted and checked from concept to dispatch. The result is decorative, functional Irish craft with sculptural detail and a strong handmade presence.
Bespoke Options: O'Gowna Studios can create personalised Ogham pieces through its own workshop, while the current Totally Irish Gifts collection is a ready-to-shop selection of handmade Irish chess sets, Celtic games and heritage gifts.
