Rynhart Bronze Irish Gifts
Rynhart Fine Art Bronze Irish Gifts is a well known and respected company, producing beautiful handmade Irish gifts, suitable for lots of different occasions. This company was started in 1981 by Jeanne Rynhart, whose iconic public sculpture include:
- Molly Malone statue in Dublin, depicting Molly with her wheelbarrow with baskets of cockles and mussels. This famous fishmonger had a song written about her which became the unofficial anthem of Dublin. This bronze statue was commissioned to celebrate the city’s first millennium in 1988.
- Annie Moore statue in Cobh, Co. Cork, depicting Annie and her two brothers. Annie was the first immigrant to pass through federal immigrant inspection on Ellis Island station in New York Harbor. This bronze statue was commissioned in 1993 and is dedicated to all who emigrated from Ireland. This sculpture won the Zeneca Ireland Ltd Commemorative Sculpture Award.
- Rose of Tralee statue, depicting William Pembroke Mulchinock giving a rose to his true love Mary O’Connor, the original Rose of Tralee, alas they were never to marry. Commissioned in 2009 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Rose of Tralee competition and can be found in the Rose garden in Tralee, Co. Kerry.
In 1994 Jeanne’s daughter, Audrey, joined the company and now she and her husband Les Elliott run the business from their studio in Glengarriff, West Cork, a very beautiful part of the Ireland. Audrey and Les have continued Jeanne’s legacy by creating their own range of handmade bronze Irish gifts in bas relief.
Each bronze Irish gift is individually hand-made. After a piece is modeled, a mould is made and production begins in bronze plate (cold cast bronze). Pieces are then hand polished and any finishing touches added.
