This Little Folk Chess Set has such unique and fun playing pieces. The Toadstool is the Castle with a fáilte (welcome) sign over the door leading to TÃr na nOg (Land of the Young). Seán the Knight has shamrock and a shillelagh to keep away the people who want them to grow up. Fergal the Bishop has a book of spells and fairy stories. Brian the King has a bag of gold for the winner of the game. Maeve the Queen has a crown of shamrocks and magical charmed harp. Paddy the pawn sits on shamrock waiting for the game to begin and smokes his pipe.
Chess board included, measures 37 x 37cm. Figures range 3cm-6.5cm.
This Little Folk Chess Set is made from cold cast porcelain, i.e. a porcelain powder that is bonded so that they are both decorative and functional, which means they don’t break easily. O’Gowna was taught this process over twenty years ago by Royal Doulton master craftsmen.
As this craft is handmade there may be visual variations, however, the same high quality of craftsmanship will apply to all sets.
