St. Brigid’s Cross
Brigid was the daugher of Dagda and Goddess of fertility, light and healing. She was the patroness of Blacksmiths and poetry. The Christian Saint who took her name circa 455-525 AD is said to have weaved a Brigid’s cross while converting a pagan king to Christianity on his death bed.
Her feat day is the first day of February, the start of Spring also, known as Imbolc in old Irish.
St. Brigid’s Cross is a solar wheel, a sign of good fortune which appears throughout into European culture.
